What is the one item that no one can leave the house without? People turn their cars around when they realize they have forgotten their cell phones. That is because cell phones have changed the way we live. They are both a convenience and a safety precaution. It is expected the demand will only increase as technology continues to evolve and they play a larger role in our everyday routines.
The latest industry data suggests continuing increased demands for cell phones and other wireless devices, and in turn, for the
companies that supply these devices. According to a 2006 study by the Computer Industry Almanac, cellular subscribers per 1,000
people is predicted to rise from 683 per 1,000 in 2005 to 946 per 1,000 in 2010 – or to nearly 95 percent of the population.
As customers continue to demand expanded non-voice features, including texting, Web-based functionality, cameras, and music and game
file downloads, we can continue to expect an increased demand for newer and more comprehensive wireless devices. For example, the
percentage of wireless customers using text messaging on a regular basis rose from 19 percent in 2005 to 25 percent in 2006—a 32
percent increase, according to J.D. Power and Associates 06 U.S. Wireless Regional Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Study SM–Volume 2.
Handsets with full alphabet keypads are among the developments to make this more convenient for users.
Over the past four years, the number of households with wireless service that have shared family plans has more than doubled, from 21 percent to nearly 50 percent, according to the 2007 J.D. Power and Associates U.S. Wireless Contract Regional Customer Satisfaction Customer Survey. The study found that the trend has led to increased satisfaction and higher customer loyalty. As the wireless industry grows, it presents an opportunity for Wireless Zone® stores to provide quality service that will ensure continued repeat business from area wireless customers.
